Osamu Dazai

One more time I am amazed by an interesting Japanese writter, Osamu Dazai, he is considered one of the most important writters of the 20th century in Japan, his work is full of imagination and a nice engaging flow which seems simple althought full of Japanese traditions and cultural particularities, like the obsesion for suicide, so common in Japanese culture, in fact the author attempted suicide three times in his life for different reason and this and other situations that he lived in his childhood are relived in many of this books.
I am recomending his novel The setting sun, which is by far one of the most known and recognize pieces of Japanese literature.
Is a simple story about the falling of an empire and the society in Japan after the second world war. It is a floating story, very vivid, althought melancholic is beautifully written. If you have the chance to get it you will definetelly enjoy this enchanting reading.

Other curiosities of Dazai life were that he ran away with a gaisha and he was thrown out of his family and his social status due to this, he was a marxist follower and deplee depressed his entire life only ending with his suicide
The pic and information was obtained from the author website

Today
I promise to myself to be honest to myself in order to be honest to the world, to unhang the curtains that make everything look nicer and to see reality for what it is, to stop lying and be corageous and tame feelings and obsessions
I compromise to myself

Mario Benedetti
A little homenage to one of my favorite poets, who died last evening:
Pausa
De vez en cuando hay que hacer
una pausa
contemplarse a sí mismo
sin la fruición cotidiana
examinar el pasado
rubro por rubro
etapa por etapa
baldosa por baldosa
y no llorarse las mentiras
sino cantarse las verdades.

I wonder...
I dont want to have neither salt or sugar,
neither peace nor war,
I wonder why to lay or why not to, why is it that I dont want good neither bad,
I wonder what would would be if you were not there to put my feet back under your pillow my sweet wolf dress in sheep
neither peace nor war,
I wonder why to lay or why not to, why is it that I dont want good neither bad,

Anytime when feeling lost I have to look into one of my favorite poets, Walt withman
As I ponder'd in silence,
Returning upon my poems, considering, lingering long,
A Phantom arose before me with distrustful aspect,
Terrible in beauty, age, and power,
The genius of poets of old lands,
As to me directing like flame its eyes,
With finger pointing to many immortal songs,
And menacing voice, What singest thou? it said,
Know'st thou not there is hut one theme for ever-enduring bards?
And that is the theme of War, the fortune of battles,
The making of perfect soldiers.
Be it so, then I answer'd,
I too haughty Shade also sing war, and a longer and greater one than any,
Waged in my book with varying fortune, with flight, advance
and retreat, victory deferr'd and wavering,
(Yet methinks certain, or as good as certain, at the last,) the
field the world,
For life and death, for the Body and for the eternal Soul,
Lo, I too am come, chanting the chant of battles,
I above all promote brave soldiers.

THE WISDOM OF JEDI MASTER YODA
Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.
Don't think. Feel. Be as one with The Force. Help you, it will.
Truly wonderful, the mind of a child is.
Clear, your mind must be.
Wars not make one great.
Patience!
